19 Apr 2008 - 1st Div team have solid start to season

The 1st Division got underway with Menzieshill Whitehall's home gala at Olympia on Saturday 19th April.

As well as our ourselves an Menzieshill, Monifieth had both their A and B teams competing with Blairgowrie as the fifth team.

We had a couple of relay teams missing at 10 & U boys and 11/12 boys and into the medlay relays wins from the 11/12 girls, 13/14 boys and 15+ girls saw us sitting in a good 2nd position behind Monifieth A who even at this early stage had a handy 10 point lead.

The individual rounds saw some good wins from all through the team it points were not limited to any specific age although the 11/12 girls had a particuarly good haul of points.

As we went through the rounds, it was clear that Monifieth's A team would be hard to catch as they steadily built on their lead round after round. Hosts Menzieshill and ourselves were fighting for 2nd spot whilst Blairgowrie and Monifieth B were in a close battle for 4th and 5th.

As we reached the free relays, Monifieth A had a clear run in to win the gala but we were hopeful that we might overhaul a 5 point defecit to nick 2nd spot from Menzieshill. In the end we fell just short and had to settle for a respectable 3rd position. Hopefully we can build on this for the remaining four galas.
