25 Mar 2007 - Warrander Baths Junior Age Group Meet

WARRENDER ANNUAL JUNIOR AGE GROUP MEET

SATURDAY 24 & SUNDAY 25 MARCH

CARNEGIE LEISURE CENTRE, DUNFERMLINE

Over the 2 days we had 50 swims that included 20 PBs.

Sessions 1 & 2 on Saturday – saw 8 swimmers competing in the 9 and under and 10 yrs age groups. For some, this was their first ‘big gala’ at an unfamiliar venue.  However they soon gained their confidence and had some great swims.

Molly Redford – 10yrs - 4 x 1st with 3 new records in – 100 IM, 50 Butterfly, 50 Free, 1st Breast Stroke, missing record by less than ½ second.  2nd 50 Back.  1st 200 Free. Best Girl 10 yrs.

Molly Duncan – 9u - 2nd 9u 200 Free, 5th 50m Free, 5th 100m IM, 6th 50 Butterfly.

Blair Doughty – 9u - 4th 200 Free, 6th 50 Breast, 5th 50 Free.

Scott Mitchell – 9u - 6th 50 Backstroke, 6th 50 Butterfly.

At the end of session 2 on Saturday DCA were sitting 4th for best club – a great achievement with the small amount of swimmers we had.

Session 3 & 4 on Sunday – saw the 11yrs and 12yrs age groups compete. It was very disappointing that we only had 4 swimmers competing in the 12 yrs age group, with no one entering from the 11yrs.  However, it was a good learning experience for those who did compete, some in new events.

Overall, the competition was successful, with the club gaining 6th place overall in Best Club placing.

The young swimmers also managed to give the coaches some healthy eating advice and passed on their skills on how to pass the time at an all day gala!!
