11 May 2008 - Report from Westhill Invitational Meet
14 Dundee City Aquatic swimmers travelled to Aberdeenshire, to compete in the Twelfth Invitational Meet held by Westhill District A.S.C.
The meet was held over the weekend of the 10th and 11th of May with 14 clubs providing a very high level of competition.
The warm weekend weather meant that conditions at poolside were far from ideal with the heat draining everyone of energy.
In spite of this the DCA swimmers rose to the challenge and secured 55 PBs, including 30 finalists with 9—1st: 10—2nd: 6—3rd. In addition to this we had 3 swimmers Megan Finlayson, Peter Stewart, and Ross Clark, who each made the finals of the “skins” events, with Ross coming 2nd in his event. Suffice to say that there were a number of excellent swims, and judging from the favourable comments made by other coaches our club continues to grow in stature
Given the very trying poolside conditions, the results were testament to the hard work everyone had put in at their various training sessions. All the swimmers should be proud of their achievements.
Finally throughout the 2 days the swimmers received tremendous support from the family/friends that had travelled with them. We may have been outnumbered by other clubs, but our support was certainly the most vocal.
