13 May 2007 - Big squad and success at Westhill
The club took a big squad of swimmers up to Aberdeen to contest the Westhill Invitational Meet over the weekend of 12th / 13th May. Swimmers from the top four sqauds competed at what was a high quality meet with the cream of the North District. We were the only club from outwith the North District competing and there were murmerings amongst the spectators about the quality of sqaud that had travelled north.
There were a number of medalalists amongst our contingent. The usual suspects of Pete Stewart, Jamie Wilmshurst, Joe Lipworth, Ross Clark, Greig Wilkinson and Ashley Williamson all got their hands on the medals (6 golds, 11 silvers & 5 bronzes).
It was nice to see Megan Finlaysons progress continue where she was rewarded with a bronze in the 50m fly but had many other successes in reaching a number of finals in what was a tough 14 / 15 age group.
Another point of note was Stephen Reekie's sucess in reaching a final in what was a rare appearance at a full weekend meet. It just shows that he still has what it takes to compete with the best.
Of the other swimmers not mentioned by name there were a number of PB's with a few swimmers reaching the squad times they were looking for.
There appeared to be a lot of happy faces amongst the group, so we must be doing something right.
