24 Jun 2007 - Matthew and Joe strike INCAS gold
A small number of our swimmers crossed the Tay to travel down to Glenrothes for the INCAS Distance meet over the weekend of 23rd/24th June.
First event of the day was the tough 200 boys fly where Matthew Charnley overcame long time rival, Blair Hush, in the final 50m to take the gold and set a new meet record.
Finlay McGillvrey tried the 200 fly for the first time and looked comfortable throughout as did Azlyn Edens in her first 800m free, all good experience for them.
The afternoon session saw Joe Lipworth narrowly miss breaking the 18min barrier at 1500 free whilst Azlyn had a great 200 breast breaking the 3.10 barrier for the first time.
The Sunday sessions saw a couple of our younger swimmers, Alisdair Rennet and Rebecca Carrie, try their hand at the 200 free and 200 back. Both gained valuable experience which will stand them in good stead for these events in the future too.
Joe took the bronze in the 400 IM before he took our second gold of the meet in the last event by leading from start to finish in the 400 free.
Well done to all our swimmers who (as usual) were a credit to the club with their good and sporting behaviour.
