24 Aug 2007 - Ashley arrives safely in States

Many of you will be aware that Ashley Williamson has recently taken up the offer of a four year swimming scholorship in the USA at Youngstown State University and had her last training session with her DCA team-mates on Tuesday before flying over the pond on Wednesday 22nd Aug.

It was great to see that only a few days into this great new opportunity that she is still thinking of those back here and took the time to send this email

Just thought I would let you know that I have arrived in America.
The university campus is really nice (but very big and confusing!!) Classes are totally different from back home where you have to register for so many classes, this is a stressful process especially when you can't get into the classes that you want to do. You also have to fit classes around practice and that can be difficult at times!
I moved into my dorm with two of the girls from the team, Caitlin and Laura, on Friday afternoon, ready for classes starting Monday morning bright and early at 8am!!
Have been and met the swim coach Matt Anderson who is really laid back. You won't find a minute of the day where he isn't in his office and  there isn't a couple of the girls from the team in his office annoying him!
The weather is so hot and humid. We were up to 30degrees yesterday but the hot weather is only meant to last a few more weeks before we go into fall and then winter. Before anybody asks - YES we do get snow( and a lot of it!!)
I hope everything is well back home and everybody is training hard. We don't start back until the 5th September.

Ashley

We hope that Ashley will keep in touch and keep us abreast of her successes.
She is due to be back around Xmas time and I'm sure she will see some of you then.
Best wishes from all in DCA.
