18 Feb 2007 - Edinburgh International (long course)

The club took a number of swimmers from the National, Junior National and Junior Potential squads through to the Commonwealth pool in Edinburgh over the weekend of 17th & 18th Feb to compete at the Edinburgh International meet.

A number of the younger swimmers gained good experience in the long course pool and although there were a few disappointed faces at the times on the board, if they had converted them to short course times there were a number of PB's.

As the 'International' bit in the meet name suggests, this was a top quality meet. Our swimmers did us proud and won their way through to a number of finals.

Of these finals we had medal success as follows,

Pete Stewart, 13/14, double gold at 100 and 200m breast and a silver at 100m back

Jamie Wilmshurst, 13/14, gold at 100m fly, bronze at 100m free

Sarah Kelly, 13/14, a pair of bronzes at 100m back and free

Greig Wilkinson, 15/16, silver over 100m fly and bronze for 100m breast. Greig also did brilliantly to progress to the last eight of the 50m sprint and may have went further had it not been for an injury sustained on his way down from the gallery to the starting blocks.

Ross Clark, 17+, bronze at 200m breast

Well done to all, it was another step up the ladder in the clubs vision to get a number of swimmers right to the top in ther sport.
